Bio: Born in the 10th century, Godric Gryffindor had hailed from a "wild moor" whose village had later been named Godric's Hollow in his honor. He'd been known for his skill at dueling, and for being one of the four founding members of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, along with Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin. He and the other founders had established their own houses within the school, and had sorted each of the students according to the traits he or she had possessed. Godric Gryffindor himself had valued bravery, daring, and chivalry, though had also been a big proponent of allowing Muggle-borns entrance into the school. However, he and the rest of the founders had begun to worry about their legacies once they were gone, and so, Godric had come up with a solution: using his hat, he and the other founders had enchanted it so that it could Sort the students into the appropriate house long after the founders' respective deaths. In addition to the Sorting Hat, Godric Gryffindor had also left behind a sword forged by goblins which has the ability to absorb "only that which strengthens it." As Godric had no heirs, the sword is said to appear to "true Gryffindors" in their time of need, usually via the Sorting Hat.
